Photo Shoot Ideas, Sucesses and Failures...!

When starting to plan this music magazine I had some basic ideas of what exactly I wanted to the photos to be like. To get a clearer understanding of what I wanted my photos to look like and of further ideas, I decided to do some research into it...

After trying to arrange a boy band for the front cover and main feature for my magazine, I realised that it was going to be a lot harder to arrange than I first thought. This was everything from finder boys to play the part that actually looked the part and find a time that we could get them all together at the same time to do the shoot. After some serious replanning, I decided to go with a single girl for my front cover and main feature, instead of a folk boy band. I already have a model ready to do the shoot and the ideas planned for her. A rock solo girl called Remi. Her personality would be based around peoplpe like Taylor Momsen, Avril Lavigne and Eyes Set to Kill.
Before I went any further with planning the shoot or actually doing the shoot, I looked into the sort of photos these examples did for press releases, magazine shoots, merchandise and advertising.

TAYLOR MOMSEN

Taylor Momsen's look is very in at the moment with the leather jackets, shorts, boorts and heels. Her signature dark eyes and blonde curls that make her look feminin aside from her intense look. She does a mixture of shots, but though they are posed, they end up looking very natural yet intense and serious... When looking through Momsen's photos a common factor they all have is she nearly always will be looking at the camera. Not only does this suit her personality and the intense feel of the photoshoots, but it also helps her audience to feel contected to her. This is carried through into her magazine and CD covers.

 Here you can see that she continues to use her trademark dark eyes. This makes Momsen instantly recognisable. Her rocky, yet girly, clothing is carriedon. She does not change and that is what makes her so successful. She changes her style to trends, but not to change her character.

The things that I am going to take from these ideas are Taylor Momsen's intense look. There are not that many female rockier singers so Momsen is a well known name, along with her band The Pretty Reckless. Another thing I am going to include when doing my photo shoot is the trademark look of her makeup.

 

 

 

 

 

Avril Lavigne

Avril Lavigne is a name that, I amguessing, everyone will know who reads my magazine, even if they do not particularly like her music. She has been going for more that 10 years now, so I guess she must be doing something right.
Her type of music is a little different from Momsen's but she has the same sort of look. She is character of rock-pop. With these two different audiences, she has a fun side as well as an intense one and this is shown through the photoshoots and such that she takes part in...

 What I am going to tke from Avril Lavigne is the diversity of her shots. She can do everything from serious and sexy to fun and playfully. As Remi will be my main feature article on my double page spread, I want the reader to be able to see a few different sides to her in the magazine.
